The regular meeting of the CanDo Board of Directors was called to order at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the First Christian Church at 685 Marion Street NE, Salem.  Michael Livingston was in the chair and Sarah Owens was secretary.

The agenda and the minutes of the December meeting were approved by unanimous consent.

Officer Vanmeter reported on his efforts to learn all he can about Salem, its plans, programs and citizens as he leads the Downtown Enforcement Team.

Councilor Bennett reported on the City’s current housing investment plan and responded to concerns about vagrants in the area of Division between Front and Commercial Streets expressed by interested citizen Rick Yurk.

The board heard presentations from Joe and Cindy Maduri and Dave Benko on their plans to install a replica of the Grand building’s orignal ~1926 blade sign, complete with smaltz, and from Carol Snyder on Parks Foundation’s competitive grant process.

In new business, Bruce Hoffman reported that the City was looking for downtown location for a CERT cache and suggested the board might want to pursue the matter as a potential action item.

The meeting of the Board of Directors adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
