Dear MWVHA Board Members,
I apologize for the lack of a Friday Bulletin in recent weeks. Today's update will focus on the Coordinated Entry System (CES).
As many of you know, Michael Livingston recently shared his thoughts on the CES. While his review highlights areas for improvement, it's important to note that the Alliance staff is already actively working on these issues. Additionally, one inaccuracy is of consequence to mention.
Key Progress and Challenges
We are committed to building a more efficient and effective CES, but it's a complex process that requires a community-wide effort. The Alliance staff cannot achieve this alone.
Here are some key highlights of our progress:
Successful Transition: We successfully transitioned CES management on July 1, ensuring minimal disruption to essential services and onboarding new staff.
Comprehensive Evaluation: We've completed a comprehensive assessment of our HMIS system and are now in the initial stages of evaluating the CES system.
Action Planning: Our team is developing SMARTIE goals and staff workplans to address the identified issues in alignment with our Strategic Plan.
Committee Updates: We're updating the charters for relevant committees to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and communication pathways. This will properly equip them to effectuate change.
Addressing Inaccuracies
It's important to clarify a misconception in Michael's review. The decision to transfer HMIS and CE responsibilities to the Alliance was not due to a reluctance to seek additional funding. Funding for these services became available after the decision was made.
Moving Forward
I'm confident that by working together, we can build a stronger, more effective CES that better serves our community. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to this important work.
